ARXX High Performance wall system forms are made with two panels of extruded polystyrene, four feet long and sixteen and three-quarters inches tall.
Between the panels are pieces of durable plastic webbing, spaced on eight - inch intervals, which hold the panels together. The forms have an interlocking grid on the top and bottom edges, which makes for a firm
bond between the layers of the forms. These forms are then stacked on each other much like large "Lego" blocks to build the walls of your home. As the forms are stacked in courses, reinforcing bar is placed
horizontally in each course to add strength to the wall system. Prior to the placement of concrete in the walls, each form weighs about six pounds. After the concrete is poured, the forms will weigh around three
hundred and fifty pounds each. Prior to the placement of concrete, reinforcing bar is placed vertically in the walls. The concrete is usually placed in the forms using a concrete pump. The result is a concrete wall,
four, six, eight or ten inches thick with two to two and one half inches of polystyrene insulation on either side of the wall. Remember the piece of durable plastic webbing used to hold the polystyrene panels
together. That web protrudes to the outside surface of the form and there it functions as the studs in a typical frame wall. Drywall, stucco wiring, siding or brick ties, can all be attached to these webs just as
they would be to the studs in that frame wall. Features of ARXX
ARXX high performance walls are fire resistant
(ARXX walls have a two- three-or four - hour fire resistance rating, depending on the surface applications and concrete thickness), so are ideal for building in remote areas where fire protection is limited. They are also well suited to areas that are prone to forest fires. Check with you insurance agent for lower rates based on the fact that your home will be classified as masonry construction.
The combination of concrete and reinforcing steel produce a wall system that is unsurpassed in structural strength. ARXX walls are wind resistant, and have been tested under hurricane and tornado conditions.
Homes built in the coastal areas of the east have successfully withstood hurricanes. Homes in the midwest, unless in the direct line of a tornado have sustained minimal damage. Safe rooms built with ARXX in homes
have withstood damage when the homes around them have been destroyed by tornados.
ARXX high performance walls are very sound resistant. With drywall on both sides a wall an STC rating of fifty are easily
attainable. ARXX high performance walls have been successfully used as soundproofing in the demising walls between theatres in a complex, and between rooms in the hotels. They provide excellent soundproofing for in
home theatres, or from noisy neighbors and roadways. Indoor peace and quiet is a reality, courtesy of ARXX.
ARXX walls are probably bullet proof, although we do not really test for this type of performance.
No CFCs, HCFCs or formaldehyde is used in the production of ARXX products and that means cleaner and healthier air. ARXX products produce very little job site waste material. Combine these facts with the
energy savings from ARXX high performance walls, one can easily see how building with ARXX is really building sustainable housing.
